About Mari Dressage

At Alliance Equestrian Center in Bend, Oregon

Mari Valceschini is a USDF Silver Medalist who has competed successfully through Intermediare I. A professional for more than a decade, she teaches children and adult riders from beginners up to the FEI levels. She’s also ridden numerous horses to USDF All-Breed, USDF Region 6, and Oregon Dressage Society titles, as well as coached students to their USDF Bronze and Silver Medals.

Mari enjoys working with horses of all breeds, including Warmbloods, Morgans, Arabians, Friesians, PREs, and ponies. Her program focuses on building strong basics while keeping the work fun for both horse and rider.

A Central Oregon native, Mari grew up participating in horse 4-H and local endurance rides. She discovered dressage as a teenager and rode with Kimberlee Barker in Corvallis while earning her bachelor’s degree in business from Oregon State University. When she returned to Bend, Mari started young hunter-jumper horses for Kilkenny Crest and Someday Farms while also working as an assistant trainer for Natalie Perry Dressage.

In 2017 Mari and Natalie purchased Alliance Equestrian Center, in Bend, to house both of their growing programs.

Mari has successfully developed her own KWPN horse, DeeJay Johnson, (Johnson x Hamaika) from First Level to Prix St. Georges and regularly rides with USEF Senior Dressage Judge and FEI 5* Dressage Judge Anne Gribbons, as well as Tina Steward, DVM.

Mari lives on the farm with her husband, Steven, and their son, William, who’s often found assisting her in the barn. The family enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and taking advantage of Central Oregon’s outdoor activities.

Horse Training and Competition

Mari’s dressage training and show programs are open to horses of all breeds and levels. She offers partial and full-training options, which can also include a combination of training rides and riding lessons. Showing is not required but is available to owners interested in having Mari present their horses or riders wanting to participate themselves at USDF-recognized or local competitions. For those looking to find a new dressage partner, Mari is available to serve as a buyer’s agent.

Riding Lessons

Our students include children and adults and range from first-time riders to upper-level dressage competitors. Introductory lessons focus on safety around horses, basic horsemanship, and foundational dressage-based riding skills. If you’re a rider interested in advanced instruction or competition, Mari will tailor her coaching to fit your goals. Well-educated lesson horses and dressage schoolmasters are available to ride. Sorry, we do not offer jumping or western lessons.

Horse Boarding

Mari co-owns Alliance Equestrian Center, a farm in Bend, Oregon, that provides full-care boarding for horses in training with Mari Dressage or Natalie Perry Dressage. The facility offers an active community of adult amateur and junior riders, care from a dedicated staff, ample turnout and pasture access, and indoor and outdoor arenas for year-round riding. For more information and rates, please visit the Alliance Equestrian Center website.

Mari is a fantastic dressage trainer. She’s able to meet her students where they are and help them to achieve their goals. She’s caring, fair, and has a sense of humor for both horse and rider. My riding and understanding of dressage has improved tremendously thanks to her expertise and guidance. I highly recommend Mari to anyone looking to improve their dressage skills.

Mandy Bonahoom

Mari is a wonderful horsewoman and trainer. I took lessons from her before buying my horse, and then Mari was responsible for partial training. We made a lot of progress and I would recommend her to anyone. The horses are well cared for and happy, and Mari is so much fun!
